In this game, other bugs are not infected but they are pilgrimaging to Pharloom and attempting to ascend to the Citadel. Perhaps the actual role of Song is still a mystery, Team Cherry has made it clear that Pharloom, the place where Hollow Knight: Silksong takes place, is 'haunted by silk and song' and both of them seem to be the main forces in this realm. Furthermore, there is a clip of Hornet using her nail as some sort of guitar which suggests playing music will be a key part of the game. Bells are present in many of the character's designs and as part of the background. In any case, Song (and music in general) will be much more present in Hollow Knight: Silksongas it can be easily deduced just by looking at the game's trailer. It may not be clear what those two charms have to do with Song, but there is a possibility it helps enhance the main characteristics of the species. The first one helps the Knight gain a bit of soul whenever it takes damage, while the second one spawns Weavers that accompany the Knight and help attack enemies, similarly to the Glowing Womb charm. Given how Hornet starts her adventure with diminished power, it might be that Silk will become the key for her to gain back her strength. Additionally, it seems like Silk plays a vital role in the story as it seems to be tied directly with Soul. Similar to Soul, Silk can be used as a weapon together with Hornet's nail.

Instead of casting spells like the Knight, Hornet will be using Silk, which seems to be a material used by Weavers in general. This is probably why it was used against the infection which caused bugs to act like zombies and lose their own will. Soul was found out to be the substance that animated bugs, so it seems like it could grant them consciousness. Hollow Knight suggests the use of Soul was not widespread and, in fact, was used to combat the infection against the Pale King's wishes. What is more interesting is the fact the Soul was only used by The Knight and some beings like the Soul Master and other foes in the Soul Sanctum. Soul could later be 'focused' to re-gain health, or used to cast spells that could harm enemies. Uncollected flames will appear on the bearer's map.In Hollow Knight, players would get a substance called Soul whenever they hit an enemy.

The bearer must seek the Grimmkin and collect their flames. Worn by those who take part in the Grimm Troupe's Ritual. Summons weaverlings to give the lonely bearer some companionship and protection. While focusing SOUL, the bearer will take on a new shape and can move freely to avoid enemies. When using Shadow Dash, the bearer's body will sharpen and damage enemies. When resting, the bearer will gain a coating of lifeblood that protects from a modest amount of damage. Protects its bearer with a hard shell while focusing SOUL.Дrains the SOUL of its bearer and uses it to birth hatchlings. When close to death, the bearer's strength will increase. Increases the force of the bearer's nail, causing enemies to recoil further when hit. This charm is fragile, and will break if its bearer is killed.Д¬auses the bearer to find more Geo when defeating enemies. The bearer will be able to dash more often as well as dash downwards. Increases the amount of SOUL gained when striking an enemy with the nail. When recovering from damage, the bearer will remain invulnerable for longer. Increases the bearer's mastery of Nail Arts, allowing them to focus their power faster and unleash arts sooner.ДЄllows the bearer to charge the Dream Nail faster and collect more SOUL when striking foes. When focusing SOUL, emit a spore cloud that slowly damages enemies. When taking damage, sprout thorny vines that damage nearby foes.Д¬auses the bearer to emit a 'heroic odour'. Keeps its bearer from recoiling backwards when they strike an enemy with a nail. Increases the running speed of the bearer, allowing them to avoid danger or overtake rivals. Whispers its location to the bearer when the map is openДЄ swarm will follow the bearer and pick up any loose Geo Activating the Overcharmed for the first time will require 5 attempts. If all Notches are being used, the Overcharmed cannot be activated. While in this state, the damage from all sources is doubled. The Overcharmed status is activated if there are more charms equipped than the number of Notches can support. Picking up a Charm Notch fully restores the Knight's health. Different charms require a different amount of notches. Charm Notches are required to equip Charms.
